The need to develop (and assess) interventions designed to reduce athletes dysfunctional perfectionistic tendencies (i.e., perfectionistic concerns) in sport has been advocated by sport psychology researchers. This study involved the development and assessment of an intervention designed to reduce perfectionistic concerns and improve mindsets about failure among sixteen development youth curling athletes. Results of this mixed-method longitudinal study provided support for the effectiveness of the intervention and indicated that the athletes attributed their involvement in the intervention with (adaptive) attentional focus, positive (re)appraisals of failure, and improved self-treatment or self-attitude following failure.
